Good News/Bad News

Such an eventful day.

First and foremost:

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY RUSTY AND ONAWA!!

Onawa, the lovely lady behind the save-the-dates and the soon-to-be invites, married Mr. Rusty ten years ago today, and wouldn't you know it, they're not only the coolest married people I know, but they've been awesome Christian role models to Tay and I. LOVE YOU BOTH!

Good news:

I now have 25 mason jar lanterns "in the can" as they say in showbiz (they say that, right?). Take a look:
Yay! Only countless dozens to go!

Also good news:

I got the gravel colored envelopes for the invites today, and they are b-e-a-utiful! However, this brings me to the bad news-

Bad News:

I JUST SPENT AN UNGODLY AMOUNT OF MONEY ON POCKET-ENVELOPES.

A little back story.

I had originally purchased the lovely "pool" blue pocket envelopes from Paper source at half the cost of other retailers. Little did I know this was because they were EXTREMELY back ordered. They might not even exist anymore. Thank you very much, Mr. Paper-source. So, I got on the horn with a very nice lady who helped me go through all the A7 linear enclosures and pick out one with in a color appropriate for the invites. Sadly all of those on sale were back ordered (thus the sale). In summation: I just dropped over $200 on paper. PAPER.

I'm still getting used to this whole "weddings cost money" thing. Pair that with spending someone else's hard earned moolah and badda-bing, shopping induced guilt. Les sigh. BUT, these invites will look great, better even with the new color "moss" enclosures, which aren't even advertised on the site, but were made known to me on the phone. Silver lining. Also, I tend to forget that no matter how much money I spend on invites....I still get to marry the English Major of my dreams.
Looking forward to our tenth anniversary-
ck.

Coming Soon to a Mailboxes Across the Nation

They're here! Onawa made some fantastic Save the Dates and they look even better than inspirational pictures. Thanks lady! Check 'em out:

Can you believe it, no changes! 100% on the first try! I'm printing a bunch out tonight on some nice legal paper and delivering them to some on campus mailboxes (before everyone leaves for finals). I think this awesome poster idea is a hit!

Save the Dates Headed your Way

Hey Folks,

Onawa has begun the creation process! Save the dates will soon be materializing. I was plowing through the Internet the other day and found the needed inspiration:

Its a save the date concert poster! I saw it and knew immediately that it was a bombin' idea. Seeing as our wedding will feature music prominently (ahem) and us prominently (ahem) and really us making music ....prominently (AHEM), it made sense. It also seems to be on the uncommon side as far as save the dates go. What would be super cute was if the invites featured tickets to the show (as in the ceremony). Cool right? Yeah, I know. The best part is, it leaves tons of room for Onawa to play with and incorporate the birds and naturey stuff that the wedding will have. She might even have the chance to slip in one of our awesome engagement pics. Yay! Of course this is all just my brain spouting off excitement. If Onawa designs something way better, who am I to crush awesomeness?

More Inspiration Comming Your Way

Meet Onawa, one of my oldest friends, awesome christian role model, mother to the cutest red haired little 21 month old girl, and talented graphic designer. Its the latter title that concerns this post today. Onawa has thoughtfully offered to design the wedding invites. I'm excited for several reasons: She has great taste, so anything she can whip up will be a treat for the eyes; she's my friend, and I love including meaningful people in the wedding chaos; also...she's so creative. You would know if you visited her house. Anyway, I sent her this little inspiration nugget today:
It's perfect for what Tay and (mostly) I have in mind. Nature, a bird or two, simple colors, but still a little funky. Classy funky if you will. The pillows are all we're really concerned with here, not that stripes are bad. We'll see what her creative little mind comes up with!
